Stock up before we take a break

Saturday, December 12, 2009

We don't want to jinx ourselves, but we've been blessed with sunny and dry market days all season long. Quick! Find some wood, and knock on it. We certainly just did, because there still remain two market days before we go into winter hibernation. With these chilly temperatures, who can blame us?

But until then, we will be setting up and having fun at 2415 University Avenue each Saturday until December 19th, when we've got a little celebration planned. Mark your calendars, because we'll have hot apple cider and plenty of warm cheer to celebrate the end of our second season.

Please note that our last market day of the season on December 19 is fast approaching, so it's time to spend those Fresh Checks before they expire at the end of the year.

In addition to our normal selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, this Saturday we expect to have:

  • tangerines (citrus is golden);
  • grapes (yes, even in December);
  • oranges (!!!);
  • avocados, pomegranates, persimmons and lemons (more citrus);
  • organic veggies, including onions, carrots, and lettuce;
  • more greens than you can shake a fist at;
  • tomatoes (they're still delicious);
  • strawberries (from Salinas);
  • nopales, chayote, basil, cilantro, cucumbers, broccoli, mint, basil, and other vegetables; and
  • much more!
