NOW OPEN every Saturday, July 17th, 2-5pm at the EPA YMCA, 550 Bell Street

EPA Market Update (12/5/09): rain or cold or shine -- we're open!

December is already here. Can you believe it? In addition to lots of holiday cheer, this season marks the beginning of some changes at your farmers' market.

Yes, the weather is cooler and the days are shorter, but ask around and you'll discover that the produce is still popping every Saturday afternoon. Transito Zamudio continues to sell apples, persimmons and oranges, but hurry on down, because this Saturday may be his last day!

Did you know that strawberries like this weather? It's true. Down in Monterey County, these delicious little red guys are still ripening in the sun before they end up at 2415 University Avenue. And if you made it out last weekend, you know that we were joined by a grower selling grapes and tangerines. We expect the same this Saturday.

In addition to our normal selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, we expect to have the following delicious items:

* tasty persimmons and apples (this may be the last week);

* organic green beans;

* oranges (oh boy oh boy oh boy!);

* grapes (wow!);

* tangerines (citrus is golden);

* organic veggies, including onions, carrots, celery, and lettuce;

* more greens than you can shake a fist at;

* tomatoes (they're still delicious);
* strawberries (from Salinas);

* yummy honey;

* nopales, chayote, cilantro, chard, cucumbers, broccoli, mint, basil, and other vegetables; and

* much more!

Please note that our last market day of the year on December 19th is fast approaching. (We'll announce our spring reopening date shortly). It's time to spend those Fresh Checks before they expire, so check under the couch cushions, because you know they like to hide. Don't forget to mark your calendars, because you can rest assured that on our last day we'll have something special planned to celebrate our community, our vendors and another successful year.

EBT/food stamps, WIC and Senior FMNP checks always accepted.

* EBT: the market accepts EBT/food stamps every Saturday.

* WIC: we're happy to accept WIC FMNP market coupons.

* EPA Fresh Checks: if eligible, we'll give you $5 to spend at the Market. For more information, click here.

* persimmons y manzanas(puede ser la última semana);

* ejotes orgánicos;

* naranjas (!!!);

* uvas deliciosas;

* mandarinas;

* verduras orgánicas, incluyendo cebollas, zanahorias, apio, y lechuga;

* jitomates;
* fresas (de Salinas);

* miel;

* nopales, chayote, basil, cilantro, pepinos, brocoli, mint, y otras verduras; and

* y much más!

Siempre aceptamos EBT/food stamps, WIC y Senior FMNP checks.
