EPA Market Update (11/28/09): citrus season has arrived

Este email viene en español al fin del mensaje.

We hope this email finds you shoveling large amounts of delicious cooked vegetables from your favorite farmers' market into your mouth. If it doesn't, you're already forgiven. There's always next Thursday.

But before then, in just a few days, we'll be treated to yet another beautiful Saturday afternoon at the East Palo Alto Community Farmers' Market. It will be a special day, because as we've been late to announce in this email update, freshly picked oranges are available from Transito Zamudio -- but for a limited time only, so get them before they disappear! As one customer recently said, "it's attractive and fresh, I like it a lot, and it's cheap.”

In addition to our normal selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, we expect to have the following delicious items:

* tasty persimmons and apples (this may be the last week);

* organic green beans;

* oranges (oh boy oh boy oh boy!);

* organic veggies, including onions, carrots, celery, and lettuce;

* more greens than you can shake a fist at;

* tomatoes (they're still delicious);
* strawberries (from Salinas);

* yummy honey;

* nopales, chayote, cilantro, chard, cucumbers, broccoli, mint, basil, and other vegetables; and

* much more!

Please note that our last market day of the year on December 19th is fast approaching. (We'll announce our spring reopening date shortly). It's time to spend those Fresh Checks before they expire, so check under the couch cushions, because you know they like to hide. Don't forget to mark your calendars, because you can rest assured that on our last day we'll have something special planned to celebrate our community, our vendors and another successful year.

EBT/food stamps, WIC and Senior FMNP checks always accepted.

* EBT: the market accepts EBT/food stamps every Saturday.

* WIC: we're happy to accept WIC FMNP market coupons.

* EPA Fresh Checks: if eligible, we'll give you $5 to spend at the Market. For more information, click here.
