Oranges are here

Saturday, November 28, 2009

Citrus season is nothing short of magical. With the arrival of those tiny globes of tart, sweetness and delight, it is the time to enjoy your Market's favorite color: orange. And for the first time ever, freshly picked oranges are available from Transito Zamudio -- but for a limited time only, so get them before they disappear! As one customer recently said, "it's attractive and fresh, I like it a lot, and it's cheap.”

Our last market day of the season on December 19 is fast approaching, and it's time to spend those fresh checks before they expire at the end of the year! Don't forget to mark your calendars, because you can rest assured that on our last day we'll have something special planned to celebrate our community, our vendors and another successful year.

In addition to our normal selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, we expect to have:

  • tasty persimmons and apples (this may be the last week);
  • oranges (oh boy oh boy oh boy!);
  • taro root and leaves (have you tried them yet?);
  • fresh peanuts (you roast them how you like them);
  • tasty sugarcane (yum yum yum);
  • organic veggies, including onions, carrots, and lettuce;
  • okra (come early for the best selection);
  • bitter melon (the health benefits are beyond description);
  • more greens than you can shake a fist at;
  • tomatoes (they're still delicious);
  • strawberries (from Salinas);
  • yummy honey;
  • nopales, chayote, basil, cilantro, cucumbers, broccoli, mint, basil, and other vegetables; and
  • much more!
