Thanksgiving Ingredients

Saturday, November 21, 2009

Your Market's mother had a special little habit around Thanksgiving. She would prepare many of the dishes ahead of Thursday, so when the big day came around, just the "easy" stuff was left. The turkey, you know. It's not all that easy, but certainly a simpler affair when the cranberries, potatoes (both sweet and regular), stuffing, and greens are out of the way.

We invite you to get your Thanksgiving shopping done early at the East Palo Alto Community Farmers' Market this Saturday from 2pm to 5pm. In addition to our normal selection of delicious produce, we expect to have:

  • sweet potatoes (they're especially sweet around Thanksgiving);
  • potatoes and garlic (absolutely delicious together);
  • celery, apples and onions (stuffing!);
  • a variety of fall squash (it's never too late to bake a pie);
  • green beans (always a healthy option);
  • collard greens (delicious and good lookin'); and
  • strawberries (got time for another pie?).

How'd you like to knock those off of your shopping list?

Please note that our last market day of the year on December 19th is fast approaching. (We'll announce our spring reopening date shortly). It's time to spend those Fresh Checks before they expire, so check under the couch cushions, because you know they like to hide. Don't forget to mark your calendars, because you can rest assured that on our last day we'll have something special planned to celebrate our community, our vendors and another successful year.
