It seemed like the whole neighborhood was at the Market last Saturday! It was definitely a good day to have a big crowd. We had some enterprising local youth come out from Soothing SoapSations. They sold their hand-made soaps all day and went home with some spending money, knowing that hard work really does pay off.
If you're a gardener, you know that November is a busy time to get the last of the winter vegetables in the ground while there's still some heat, and before the frost sets in. The fall and winter are also a great time to reflect on last season's harvest and to begin planning (and planting!) next year. Consider the Backyard Gardener Network, which is preparing for an active winter of spring preparations.
Please note that our last market day of the year on December 19th is fast approaching. It's time to spend those Fresh Checks before they expire, so check under the couch cushions, because you know they like to hide. Don't forget to mark your calendars, because you can rest assured that on our last day we'll have something special planned to celebrate our community, our vendors and another successful year.
This Saturday, we expect to have:
* persimmons and apples (just three more weeks of these);
* taro root and leaves (have you tried them yet?);
* fresh peanuts (you roast them how you like them);
* tasty sugarcane (yum yum yum);
* rainbow chard (not just pretty to look at);
* organic peppers (serrano and bell), lettuce, and cabbage (yum, yum, yum and yum);
* sweet potatoes;
* jicama;
* okra (come early for the best selection);
* collard greens;
* freshly-made hummos and other Mediterranean snacks (made right in Belmont, and perfect for appetizers and healthy snacks);
* strawberries (arrive early before they sell out);
* yummy honey (ask Transito Zamudio);
* nopales, chayote, basil, cilantro, cucumbers, broccoli, mint, onions, greens, and other vegetables; and
* much more!
EBT/food stamps, WIC and Senior FMNP checks always accepted.
* EBT: the market accepts EBT/food stamps every Saturday.
* WIC: we're happy to accept WIC FMNP market coupons.
* EPA Fresh Checks: if eligible, we'll give you $5 to spend at the Market. For more information, click here.

* raíz de taro;
* cacahuates frescos;
* caña de azúcar;
* jicama;
* manzanas;
* nuevas verduras orgánicas, incluyendo broccolini, ejotes, zanahoria (big), lechuga, chile (serrano y bell), remolacha, y repollo;
* pimientas;
* miel dulce;
* tomates;
* fresas;
* vegetales latinos y orgánicos ; y
* mucho más!
Siempre aceptamos EBT/food stamps, WIC y Senior FMNP checks.
