EPA Market Update (8/15/09): enjoy watermelon with Daniel and Epiffani

Here comes another message from Daniel and Epiffani, two Food Justice Leaders who have been working with the market this summer.

Bring your family, we have NEW activities, such as boardgames and coloring pages. You’ll never know what we have next week so make sure you come and find out.

We also have new products such as sweet, sweet, sweet, honey. Come and check out the ripest and sweetest watermelons that we have ever tasted. Do you guys have potatoes? Yes, we have potatoes now.

This Saturday from 2pm to 5pm, as always, we expect to have all sorts of fresh fruits and vegetables, plus fresh-cut flowers and a bit of prepared food:

* organic corn (the delicious kind);

* organic veggies, including broccolini, watercress, heirloom carrots (big and purple!), and lettuce;

* plus, organic peppers (serrano and bell), golden beets, and cabbage (yum, yum, yum and yum);

* potatoes;


* tomatoes! (oh so sweet and juicy);

* freshly-made hummos and other Mediterranean snacks (made right in Belmont, and perfect for appetizers and healthy snacks);

* sweet white peaches, multiple kinds of nectarines, plums and pluots;

* strawberries (from Salinas);

* watermelons;

* yummy honey;

* nopales, chayote, basil, cilantro, cucumbers, broccoli, mint, onions, greens, and other vegetables; and

* much more!

EBT/food stamps, WIC and Senior FMNP checks always accepted.

* EBT: the market accepts EBT/food stamps every Saturday.

* WIC: we're happy to accept WIC FMNP market coupons.

Summer Celebration at Collective Roots


Join us for an evening of community and tasty food. We’ll highlight the work of local high school students, college interns and volunteers who have contributed to food justice and health advocacy this summer.
